MISSION ACCOMPLISHED
The mystery has been solved. And Larry gets a cookie for his correct assessment of the situation. The "secondary income opportunity" was, in fact, Amway. I'm certain of it. Toldja it was sketchy. Here's what I found out, with my mad ninja super-sleuthing skillz:
FACT 1: T & E International does have a Web site, after all. You can see it here in all its sketchy glory.
FACT 2: Note the word "quixnet" in the URL for T & E International.
FACT 3: Read a very thorough (and appropriately skeptical) lowdown on Amway here. Note the bottom portion of the page, which explains that Amway now has an online arm, called Quixtar.
FACT 4: Note the amazing similarity between the words "quixnet" and "Quixtar." Draw appropriate conclusion.
And so we learn that Amway is active like a 2-year-old on Pop Rocks in this area, and that apparently they think Geoffrey really wants to give them all his money. This case is closed.
UPDATE: Dear Amway weirdos: Please stop e-mailing me with sweet, innocent requests for me to tell you more about what I found about your "business proposal," since you're "thinking about joining" and it "sounds like a pretty good idea" to you. After five or more of you sent me that e-mail, I caught on that it's another one of your adorable scams. And if these e-mails to me aren't a scam, let me apologize and issue a blanket piece of advice: If some stranger offers you a "business opportunity" but artfully dodges answering any questions about what, specifically, that business would have you doing, say no. I mean, duh.

Also, I'm just remembering that the guy who accosted us this weekend said he does a lot of work in North Carolina. Watch out, Larry and Dave!

PROOF! PROOF! As WEBMASTER's! cutriosity was aroused, he tried hacking into their intranet but quickly grew tired of it. He then proceeded to the root site:
http://www.quixnet.net
where he saw a link right to
http://www.quixtar.com/
man alive, we are indeed a mad sleuthing team. fear us, Amway! Shake and tremble!

Yes, your talents are wasted. You should be Chandler and Chandler, Private Eyes! You know, like Simon and Simon except your married and not brothers and Stacy is a girl and you're not in California. The same, except for that.

Hey - If you were Chandler and Chandler, I'd bet you'd have a wicked cool theme song. Not quite Simon and Simon cool, but still pretty damn cool.
And did I just say 'wicked'?

Clearly, Hart to Hart is being entirely overlooked here. Ahem.

And don't forget, in all it's "femininist" glory, MacMillan and Wife.
Dude, I *so* called it. And yes, that "Quixtar" name really rings a bell. I think that was what this one firefighter guy was trying to sell me. I said, "sounds like Amway," and he actually told me, "No, man -- Amway sucked. They went under. This is a totally different company." Indeed.

I was doing some searching for T & E International and I came across your blog. I found your posting very interesting because I like you was contacted for T & E International and was very skeptical. I knew that it had an affiliation with Quixtar/Amway. However, my wife and I did decide to join despite some of our friends’ suggestions to stay away. I am very happy with my decision and to put out some facts no one has ever asked us for any money. We have turned our life around especially for being newly weds not only financially but we have much better direction as far as our future goals and we are putting ourselves in a place were we can help our family in a time of need. I can honestly say that I have not felt so good about my life and have been able to sleep at night not worrying about how we are going to pay the bills or put gas in our car. The people in T & E have been closer to us than family and have really help my wife and I get started in life. I really take pride in helping other people. It is really neat to have other peoples kids call you uncle and aunt because you feel like you have become apart of their family. I am sorry you had such a negative experience, but good luck with your career!

Do not listen to the Keith Posting. He is a recruiter for Quixar/Amway.

Well, for those who think T&E has "recruiters", you are mistaken. There are no "recruiters." Before you post some worthless advice, know the facts. Truly do the investigating it takes to find the real scoop. If you would have qualified for their team and put forth the honest effort recommended for at least 3 years you would know that the opportunity is better than most especially since it takes next to nothing to start. By the way, what advice do you have to get ahead in life? Can you offer anything better or are you giving empty advice here?
