Man, what an awesome weekend. It was awesome because I spent no more than maybe three hours of it wearing shoes. On Saturday we had no plans whatsoever. Unless you can count pre-made arrangements to sit on the sofa and catch up on my nerdy music magazines "plans." Good thing about that lack of plans, too, as Tokyo had its first snow of the winter. Nice pretty snow, stuck to the grass but not to the roads. Viewed from inside a warm living room, as snow should be. Nothing much else to report from the weekend -- unless you want gritty details on the magazines read (Paste and No Depression), music listened to (assorted), and snacks consumed (many and varied and not-at-all healthy) -- except one remarkable event: We watched a new "Saturday Night Live" episode, and, well, it was almost-kind-of-not-crappy! Scarlett Johannsen, she of the amazing boobs, hosted and the musical guest was Death Cab for Cutie. "Weekend Update," however, fulfilled its now-expected role as unfunniest part of the show, so I know all is right in the universe.
The chill weekend was quite a departure from the action-packed fun-fest of the preceeding week, when Miss Liz was in town!We saw the sights of Tokyo and did mucho shopping and cooing over things sparkly and/or cute. Good times! We wish Liz well as she begins her recovery from the bird flu mild cold she got on her visit.
